Church: what I learned 1/31/2010
Here's what I learned at church today:
- this is the time for faith not fear
- life is a test
- faith, to be faith, must go into the unknown
- there is no true freedom without risk
- living the commandments strengthen faith; brings security
- the Lord has been there before you
- turn the other cheek
- the rapids of life are part of life; coming through strengthens faith
- do your best; leave the rest in the Lord's hands
- answers and solutions come a piece at a time

post-church way of living christianism should be only a desperate and temporary situation, where we as christians are heartfully seeking to live the church as it is described in the book of Acts,…
it is mistake to forge a theology that justify the individualism and the lazyness of the post-church way of doing church
there is many christians in the institutionnal church that try to obey God in their “church”, but are perfectly aware that their church should never be described as what God wants, and therefore they refuse to justify their church with a twisted theology…
it should be the same for a christian who is in a post-church situation
wow i should check out that church. very nice. especially the ending

Hi Jay! How's this:
Stop By The Church
by Babbie Mason
Album: The Finest Hour
You ought to stop by the church sometime
Stop by the church sometime
Oh something may be said
To help you on your way
If you stop by the church sometime
(repeat)
When you see the deacon
Come out and sing a song
Give testimony
About what the Lord has done
The holy ghost is moving
Until every pain and care
Is left behind
You got a made up mind
Leave your burdens there
You gotta listen to the songs
That they sing
Listen to the songs
That they sing
The words of a song
Help you to carry on
If you stop by the church sometime
You can listen to the prayer
That they pray
Listen to the prayers
That they pray
Oh while you're there in prayer
The Holy Ghost will meet you there
If you stop by the church sometime
When you see the preacher
Come out and take the stand
Read the holy scripture
You ought to try and take it in
In that holy bible
It's got everything you need
You can find a scripture
Of every description
If you take a little time and read
Ever feel lonely
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
In need of a friend
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
If your burdens getting heavey
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
If you feel misused
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
If you feel abused
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
Know you been talked about
Stop by the church
But that's alright
stop by the church
That's alright
Stop by the church
That's alright
Stop by the church
Listen to the preacher
Stop by the church
Listen to the preacher
Stop by the church
You feel like singing
Stop by the church
Just like singing
Stop by the church
You feel like shouting
Stop by the church
When the Holy Ghost come
(when the Holy Ghost come)
(Stop by the church)
When the Holy Ghost come
(when the Holy Ghost come)
(Stop by the church)
When the Holy Ghost come
You ought to stop by the church sometime
Stop by the church sometime
Something may be said
To help you on your way
If you stop by the church sometime
You ought to stop by the church sometime
You ought to stop by the church sometime
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
Stop by the church
You ought to stop by the church sometime
Stop by the church sometime
Something may be said
To help you on your way
If you stop by the church sometime
You ought to stop by the church sometime
You ought to stop by the church sometime
Blessings & Love
"Voted?"
Anyway…
Yes. That's true. A Catholic monk once told me there was a council and a simple vote on texts. The early Church was actually much more diverse than what we see today. The Bible itself is the result of a vote. There are many alternate Gospels that exist, as well as Apocalypses, and so forth. You have to understand these things were popping up here and there and everyone claimed to be Christians. And often time, it didn't matter, and groups who had very different theologies would meet and attend services together.
But slowly, the Church had to decide on an Orthodoxy. This included scriptural orthodoxy. Decisions had to be made. A coherent theology had to be built. Now the Catholic Church does not deny this process. They may have a strange idea as to just what happened when the Cathars were massacred, but they don't deny that they have always claimed the authority to give the Bible its own authority. You see, it's only relatively recently that people have stopped using the word "heretic" in a very significant manner.
The Church admits this. There is a selection.
But protestants have a lot more explaining to do on this matter. Martin Luther had to decide that a) The Catholic Church had been correct in the past in rooting out heresy. b) For some reason, it no longer had that authority today. c) Since the book that the Church had decided upon (except a few more recent additions) was the right one, it didn't matter. We'd use that. d) Let's try to forget about a) and b) We have the Word of God. Doesn't matter.

The swastika Is a symbol of peace often found in churches u wanker
I started meditating years ago in order to assist with my depression and anxiety issues. I’m not a buddhist in any sense of the word, but I find my ninety minutes a day to be a better feeling of that sensation I used to chase in church… in the quiet moment when everyone stopped talking and before my priest opened his mouth. During the summers (soon for this one) I spend a lot of time with my family on one of the great lakes. I generally take hour long walks by the shore under the stars. I think of it as a direct confrontation with the complexity and beauty of the natural world that, year round, I love so dearly. It is supremely humbling when you watch a sky so clear you can see the haze of the milky way, or be able to tell in a moment without a shadow of a doubt the difference between a star and a plane/satellite. And don’t get me started on meteor showers. Now, these are not religious services in the sense of a community. Aside from my brother, all of my friends and family are theists or deists, so I never really have anyone to share what makes those moments so special to me. But special they are, for their perspective and their beauty and, most of all, their ability to instantly pull me out of the drama of my own existence and diffuse my solipsism. Hope any of that helps, got a little rambly.
In England the slang word for cigarette is FAG. Maybe all the fuss with the Westboro Baptist Church (cult) is really all about being against smoking. Yeah, that’s it! I guess they’re real message is saying that GOD is against smoking. If that’s the case, maybe they DO care about others. Nah!
