Playon plugins deliver content for Wii users
Saturday, April 3rd, 2010Just wanted to give some props to some 3rd party Playon plugin creators — playon scripts and playonlabs. Thanks to their fantastic plugins, my family can now watch programs from great channels like Nick Jr. and Food Network. They’ve great web streams, too, like all three C-Span channels.
They’ve got MTV videos (including the latest from Lady Gaga — sheesh, she’s obsessed with poisoning people) … they’ve got Batman circa 90′s, current Brave and the Bold stuff, Batman Beyond … I saw Smurfs on the list … they had the first 20 episodes and pilot of Babylon Five … they had a couple of Brazilian channels.
Who needs cable?
Be sure to follow the directions precisely. Don’t forget to stop and start the Playon server for the scripts to take effect and display on the Wii menu!
Also, kudos to Playon for adding MLB.tv to their array of channels. If I were so inclined, I can now watch my favorite team on my television, through my Wii console. Very cool.
I mean, sure — the text on the menus is small. Yeah, you’ve got to have perfectly still hands to click a menu button. Yes, my computer is a little too slow for the streaming, which is my bad (but then again, the Netflix Wii Disc works fine, so….) … anyway, it does feel like cable in the USSR, but it does work. So big props to Playon, and I look forward to readable fonts and bigger menu buttons in the future!
